Towards Capable and Responsive States. Supporting Statebuilding in Situations of Conflict and Fragility

Despite growing attention in recent years, the gap between low income countries and fragile states remains wide. Few fragile contexts have graduated, successfully managing the state building transition. This event will start with a policy presentation of the OECD DAC Guidance on Statebuilding; which calls for development agencies to work differently in the world’s most challenging contexts. Supporting statebuilding demands the end of business as usual. The policy presentation of the Guidance Note will be followed by a Q&A session. After a coffee break, a second part will consist of a seminar where practitioners from fragile environments, will share their own first hand experiences. An open debate will conclude the event.
