Environment, Climate Change, and Peace:
A new look at the Humanitarian, Development, Peacebuilding Nexus
An event at the CCHN World Humanitarian Summit
Friday 2 July, 14:00-15:30
As part of its mandate on community management, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform aims to strengthen networking and community building in different topics within the peacebuilding sector. Environment, Climate, Conflict, and Peace has been a core issue for the GPP’s community management work for more than a year, and has grown to a community of practice with more than 70 participants from Geneva and beyond. Key projects include a White Paper on the Future of Environmental Peacebuilding, briefings and convenings, and a joint effort towards the Second International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding, to be held in February 2022 in Geneva.
This session focuses on the role of the humanitarian-development-peacebuilding nexus in ongoing work on environment, climate change, and peace. Its objective is to create a space where humanitarians can exchange with other fields, to share and receive insights and resources related to environment, climate, conflict, and peace. Relationally, the session seeks to create connections across thematic divides and continue to build a wide community of practice.
