“Let’s talk peace!”

The Geneva Peace Talks 2014 will highlight how communication tools, techniques, and channels can contribute to resolving conflict. Speakers will reflect on how they have personally overcome the challenges of communication in their involvements in peacebuilding, communications, peace negotiations, as well as discussions with perpetrators of violence and underrepresented groups to build lasting peace.

Coming from violent and divided environments as well as backgrounds in science, art, business, and more, speakers will share their personal stories of peace and how communication has made a difference in their peacebuilding efforts. More information on speakers will follow shortly.

The event is made possible with the generous support of the Fondation pour Genève, the Swiss Confederation, the Republic and State of Geneva, and the City of Geneva.

Special feature: The “Peace Puzzle”

The Geneva Peace Talks' “Peace Puzzle” has been produced with the generous support of Ravensburger AG Germany. Attend the Geneva Peace Talks 2014 and find out more about the “Peace Puzzle”!

Background and vision

Every year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The United Nations General Assembly has declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

Launched in 2013, the Geneva Peace Talks is an annual, public event organized on the occasion of the International Day of Peace. The event is organized partnership between the United Nations Office at Geneva, Interpeace, and the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform.

The Geneva Peace Talks have the vision to expand the space for dialogue about building peace and resolving conflict. The spirit of the Peace Talks is one of collaboration and reinforces that each and every person has a role to play in peace.
