Geneva Peacebuilding Platform hosts the opening session of PBPSO–Geneva Briefing Series

On 1 April 2026, the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform hosted the launch of the PBPSO–Geneva Briefing Sessions, a new fourpart series of hybrid meetings designed to strengthen understanding and connections between New York’s UN Peacebuilding Architecture and the Geneva's peacebuilding ecosystem.

Organized by Dr. Sara Habibi, Peacebuilding Liaison Officer / PBPSO Focal Point at the UN University Center for Policy Research (UNU-CPR) in partnership with UN Peacebuilding and Peace Support Office (PBPSO) in New York, , this series is designed to help Geneva-based stakeholders better understand the UN peacebuilding system against the background of institutional reforms and evolving approaches to prevention and sustaining peace. In addition to raising awareness, these regular discussions will seek to offer a space to reflect on how recent changes affect mandates, partnerships, and opportunities for engagement at global, regional, and country levels.

The inaugural session focused on partnerships and financing for peace, highlighting how UN peacebuilding actors are working with a broad range of partners to deliver impact in a challenging global environment marked by rising conflict risks and constrained resources. The discussion addressed topics such as how the Peacebuilding Fund operates, its strategy and perspectives for the coming years, lessons learned on peacebuilding financing, emerging partnership models, including with International Financial Institutions or even the private sector, as well as ways to strengthen collaboration with Geneva-based entities on financing matters.

The GPP, represented by its Policy Lead Cyprien Fluzin, was delighted to welcome to Maison de la Paix colleagues joining this first session in person, and, more broadly, is pleased to support this initiative as part of its ongoing efforts to foster dialogue across institutional and geographic divides, and to support stronger links between policy, financing, and operational peacebuilding communities.
